Themed “Free Voice, Take Charge” Simuka Comedy Festival 2021 was curated to run as both a workshop and performance platform for comedians. The overarching aim was forr there to be cross-fertilization of ideas and opening of comedy markets. The project presented a gateway to creating a sustainable Zimbabwean Comedy circuit, where artists from Zimbabwe could work together to grow the economic potential of comedy and the quality of acts across Zimbabwe. What was of particular interest in the Simuka Comedy, for the purposes set out in this project, is that the Festival Director, Doc Vikela, is a well-respected youthful practitioner of stand-up comedy and a mentor to a host of comedians in Zimbabwe
