Fungai Muzoroza created the project ‘Braided/Ruka’. African women have used ‘kuruka’ as a technique for eons, whether it be through our hair, or the clothes that keep us warm. It was about learning how to make and manipulate this banana fibre through collaboration with some amazing women who do this for a living and teaching how to create fibre from the banana plant as well as the weaving methods they use to create some of their famously woven aztec patterned baskets, mats, bags and many more.
