Founded in 1951, the Alliance Française of Harare is a non-profit association and it is part of a global network of about 800 French Alliances in 132 countries. The Alliance Française of Harare promotes the French language and encourages better mutual knowledge between France and Zimbabwe by developing cultural exchanges. It offers French courses according to an annual calendar and learners have an option to take lessons, at the Alliance or at home, online or face-to-face. The Alliance Française of Harare is an examination center for the DELF, DALF and TCF exams which are internationally recognized diplomas issued by the French Ministry of Education. The Alliance Française of Harare also participates to the promotion of culture by offering numerous events in its Old Mutual Theater or in its gardens where concerts, film screenings, conferences and debates are organized regularly. The Alliance Française of Harare also has a multimedia library equipped with magazines, DVDs and approximately 6000 books for readers to practice their French.
