The Goethe-Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with a global reach. We promote knowledge of the German language abroad and foster international cultural cooperation.
Would you like to teach German as a foreign language at the Goethe-Institut, but have no teaching experience? The Goethe-Institut is inviting suitable applicants for a training programme that will run from 1 March – 31 December 2024 and that will focus on:
Teaching of German as a Foreign Language at the Goethe-Institut.
Programme Outline:
- B2 – C1 German online language course: 1 March – 31 October 2024
- Supervised observation of German lessons and preparation of small teaching units at a Goethe-Institut in Sub-Saharan Africa: 1 March – 31 December 2024
- Assisting as a tutor in the self-learning centre if required at a Goethe-Institut in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- 2 Evaluated demonstration lessons at a Goethe-Institut in Sub-Saharan Africa
- Online training in didactics and teaching methodology: 12 modules
- Training and accreditation as A1 – A2 Goethe-examiner
Requirements:
- BA Degree in German Studies, Linguistics, another language or a comparable degree
- Proof of a very good B1 German language proficiency
- Full-time availability for the duration of the programme
- Above-average commitment, considering the scope and duration of the programme
- Openness to new teaching methods, especially digital tools and online learning
- Ability to work in a team, intercultural competence, diligence, resilience and reliability
- Flexibility and willingness to work in the evening and also on weekends
