We are delighted to announce Percy Nhara, as one of our Pop Up Small Grants Open call Winners.
Percy Pinias Nhara, also known as Nehoreka, is an Afro-Fusion artist and musicologist. He was born in Mashava, Gaths Mine, and grew up in Gweru, Zimbabwe. He holds an HND Diploma in Marketing Management and a BSC in Music Business, Musicology, and Technology. He has been a broadcaster for 12 years, specialising in radio at the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation. He has also worked as a Marketing Executive for Zimpapers and as a Marketing Manager for Zimnow, an online news website. In 2023, he founded Rhythm Connections, a website that examines music from a cultural and academic perspective. Nhara’s work as an artist and scholar has been praised for its innovative approach to Afro-Fusion music. He has been credited with fusing traditional Zimbabwean music with elements of jazz, funk, and electronica. His work has also been praised for its social commentary. His songs often address issues of poverty, inequality, and political corruption.

Anna Miti, (Editorial) is a former broadcaster and newscaster with the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation with over 25 years of experience in media. She is an advocacy and communications specialist with a background in media, gender, and HIV/AIDS advocacy. She is the chairperson of the Health Communicators Forum of Zimbabwe and a former AVAC Advocacy Fellow and IAS Cure Research Advocacy Fellow. Miti is a member of the Federation of African Media Women in Zimbabwe and a member of the Editor’s Forum on HIV/AIDS.
An upcoming musician and music researcher. Jared is a poet and a rapper who has a passion for photography and graphic design. Currently studying for his ‘A’ Levels, majoring in Computer Sciences, Chemistry, Maths, and Biology.
