The Library is an important link to your study and exams success. The Library also offers you information that can help you in your decisions as to what to do after your Language course. The Library also strives to be a source for current information about Germany.

     LEARN GERMAN BY READING AND LISTENING

The best way to learn a language is through reading and listening:

Reading short, captivating stories or interesting articles about topics you enjoy will strengthen your language skills immensely and help you to develop well-rounded knowledge of German vocabulary and grammar. Project Gutenberg – Digital Library for Free E-Books

Project Gutenberg offers a selection of E-Books in German. You can choose to read them online in your browser or to download them in a variety of formats for different E-book readers. The library consists of older books now in the public domain.

Archive.org – German Texts and E-Books For Free

With a large collection of different German texts and books, you can use this archive to improve your German reading skills. Most texts are available in HTML format or a number of different e-book formats.

OpenLibrary – German E-Books for free

Visit the OpenLibrary to browse through a large collection of important German books, as well as German translations of internationally famous books. Most of the books can be read online or downloaded in a number of formats.

E-LIBRARY ACCESS

The E-library of Goethe Institut Africa is a service that allows you to borrow digital documents, such as eBooks, eAudio books and electronic newspapers, for a predetermined period of time, by downloading them from the eLibrary. For you to start using the service, you will need an activated account. To activate your account, please follow these instructions:


1. You need to create an account with mein Goethe.de/my goethe.de
a) Log on to the e-library of Africa website www.goethe.de/Africa/elibrary
b) On the upper taskbar, click on mein Goethe.de/my goethe.de.
c) Click on sign up and fill your personal details on the registration form. Click send.
d) An activation email will be sent to the email address used to register above.

2.  Activate your e-Library
a) Log on to the e-library of Africa website (www.goethe.de/africa/elibrary).
b) On the upper taskbar, click on mein Goethe.de
c) Log in with the email address and password used to register above.
d) The following menu appears:

    1)Meine Startseite/My start page
    2)Mein Profil/My profile
    3)Meine newsletters/My newsletters
    4)Meine communities/My communities
    5)Meine Kurse/My courses
    6)Meine Onleihe/My e-library
e)Under meine Onleihe/my e-library, please use the following code to activate your e-library: 
f)Your e-library is now active and ready for use.
